Netherlands Economists Day 2022

This year we host the eleventh edition of the Netherlands Economists Day. The event will take place on November 4, 2022 in The Hague. Spread over various locations in The Hague, we will discuss economic policy and research. The event is only open to members of the KVS economists' professional association. New members can register when buying a ticket.

In the morning, most sessions will be hosted at the Centraal Planbureau, with a few parallel sessions at the Sociaal-Economische Raad and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. The afternoon program (from the lunchbreak onwards) is on Campus The Hague Leiden University.

Corona measures

We will apply all corona measures required by the Dutch government. This means that we might ask you for a QR code that shows that you are vaccinated or tested. Please check this website for the latest updates: https://www.government.nl/topics/coronavirus-covid-19. We hope to organize the event in person in The Hague. However, if the situation changes and large events are no longer allowed, the event will take place online using the software Zoom. You are then not entitled to a refund of your ticket and KVS membership/ESB subscription.

Specify session preference

During the registration process you are asked which sessions you would like to attend. This way we can manage the crowds and make sure that none of the rooms are overbooked. You can still change your choice afterwards by logging in. For those who do not wish to choose, there will always be one parallel session in the main hall, with almost unlimited capacity.

Due to overwhelming interest, registration for in-person participation is closed. You can only register for online participation.

Not all sessions can be streamed. If you register for online participation, you will be able to watch the following sessions:

Morning:

  • Plenaire sessie
  • Parallel session A4: Vermogen
  • Parallel Session A1: Kinderopvang
  • Parallel Session A3: Europese begrotingsregels

Afternoon:

  • Tinbergen Lecture
  • Parallel Session B3: Inflatie

Announcing Keynote Speaker:

Ernst Fehr (University of Zurich), “The Heterogenous Human Quest for Fairness & Equality”
Concerns about fairness and inequality impact people's economic behavior in important ways and they play a key role in political decision making about economic policy. Not everybody cares about fairness and equality to the same extent or in the same way, however. In this year's Tinbergen Lecture, one of the most prominent behavioral economists in the world shares his insights about the causes and consequences of the human quest for fairness and equality.
